Gunplay has been completely overhauled and Star Wars: Hunters will now feel completely different! The new Gunplay mechanics will allow you to improve your skill with weapons as they become more experienced with each Hunter. All ranged weapons now include the following mechanics:

  • Overheat
  • Ammo
  • Weapon Spread & Recoil
  • Improved Focused Aim capabilities

Overheat

All blaster based weapons now generate heat per shot. Each weapon will have different overheat values based on their weapon archetype. When a weapon overheats you will be unable to fire for a timed duration as the weapon vents. Hunters can still use abilities while venting.

You can choose to manually vent your weapon before it reaches the maximum overheat level.

The overheat feature affects the following Hunters:

  • Imara Vex
  • Sentinel
  • Utooni
  • Slingshot
  • Sprocket
  • Zaina

Ammo

Non blaster weapons will now have an ammo count. Once the ammo is depleted, you must reload them. Each weapon will have different ammo and reload values based on their weapon archetype.

You can choose to manually reload your weapon before the ammo clip is empty.

The ammo feature affects the following Hunters:

  • Diago
  • Charr
  • Skora

Weapon Spread & Recoil

All weapons now include weapon spread and recoil.

How does weapon spread work?

The more you fire your weapon, the less accurate it becomes. This impacts each weapon differently depending on the weapon archetype and the overheat/reload balancing.

How will recoil affect Hunters?

The more you fire your weapon, the more difficult it is to control the kickback. This impacts each weapon differently depending on the weapon archetype and the overheat/reload balancing.

Focused Aim Update

Focused Aim has been removed from all Hunters except Imara Vex and Diago, providing a clear benefit for their long range combat.

Z-Targeting Update

Z-Targeting has been replaced by a new melee aim assist implementation to help guide attacks and abilities. This change was made to reduce the overall amount of buttons required on the screen and Z-targeting is more regularly found in single player games.
