Shifting gears is the skill that every drag racer needs to know how to do in their sleep. 

The light to the right of your tachometer will indicate when you should shift up - hit the shift paddle on the right when they're green for the optimal gear change. If you're successful, you'll receive a Perfect Shift, but change too early or too late when the indicator is red and you'll lose precious speed.
